Incredibly rare Charles Conrad signed 8x10 inch photo, showing the Apollo 12 Commander descending the LM ladder to become the 3rd man on the moon in a beautiful photo captured by Alan Bean. Hand signed by Conrad in blue pen with his classic first words quote:
'Man, that may have been a small one for Neil but thats a long one for me! Charles Conrad Cdr Apollo XII'
Conrad said these words as he dropped down from the bottom of the LM ladder to the LM footpad for a great reason.
When Neil Armstrong stepped on to the moon in July 1969, he said the historic words, "That’s one small step for (a) man, one giant leap for mankind". Many people believed that NASA had written the words for Neil, but the astronauts were in fact free to say whatever they liked.
To prove this the third man on the moon Pete Conrad who was only 5 foot 6 inches, had a bet with a reporter Oriana Fallaci for $500, that he would make a joke about his short height. As he stepped on to the moon
So, Conrads first words were, "Whoopie!..... Man, that may have been a small one for Neil, but that's a long one for me!"
Conrad won the bet, but never did receive the $500!
This is one of the most desirable and sought after Moonwalker signed photos we have ever offered
Excellent condition. Comes a Moonpans COA
