This section of camera film, measuring approx 70mm x 10 mm was used by Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on the lunar surface during the historic first manned moon landing in July 1969.
What makes this section special is that it is a FULL WIDTH section of 70mm film from sprocket to sprocket. Most of the Apollo 11 film segments sold were only tiny pieces measuring 12mm or so.
Another piece at the 70mm size, sold for $26,250 at auction.
The film is attached to an 5 x 3 inch card hand signed by Richard W Underwood who in his role as Supervisory Aerospace Technologist at Lyndon B Johnson Spacecraft Center was responsible for the handling of the exposed camera films from the Apollo missions after their return from the Moon.
The wording on the certificate reads as follows:
