8 x 10.5 inch letter on official NASA letterhead, dated October 4th 1961
Made out to a member of the Martin County Florida Historical Society the letter reads: “Thank you for your congratulations and thoughtfulness. Your reaction as a fellow American has been most heart-warming and encouraging to me. I am very proud to have been a part of this step in our space program. We still have a lot of work to be done and our training schedule leaves us very little free time. For this reason I cannot accept your kind invitation. Your consideration is greatly appreciated.”
The letter has been mounted onto a larger card using glue which has caused visible toning to the front side
