We are very happy to offer this fantastic collection of rare Astronaut Autographs on a small diary page measuring 2.5 inches wide x 4 inches high.
They were obtained by a 12 year old girl in Iceland in July 1965, who came across the 10 astronauts as they were taking part in geology training in the most lunar like landscape to be found on earth.
She was mezmerized by what they were up to so followed them around. Charles Basset was especially kind to the girl and when asked for his autograph, he not only obliged, but also handed the diary to his fellow astronauts who also signed
In all 10 astronauts signed the page
- Charles Basset who unfortunatly died in a T-38 trainer jet along with Elliot See in 1966
- Rusty Schweickart who went on to fly on Apollo 9 the first manned flight of a Lunar Module
- Bill Anders who flew on Apollo 8, the first manned flight to the moon
- Don Eisele who flew on Apollo 7, the first manned flight of the Apollo spacecraft
- Alan Bean who walked on the moon on Apollo 12, and spent 59 days in space on Skylab 3
- Walt Cunningham also flew on Apollo 7
- Gene Cernan flew on Gemini 9, and flew to the moon on Apollo 10, and walked on the surface on Apollo 17
- Dave Scott flew on Gemini 8, Apollo 9 and walked on the moon on Apollo 15
- CC Williams who was killed after ejecting from his out of contol T-38 in 1967
- Roger Chaffee who died in the Apollo 1 pad fire disaster
The signatures are on a 2.5 inch x 4 inch brown diary page with mild creases, and the piece is framed with archival materials to an overall size of 15 x 16.75 inches.
