This Beta Cloth patch bearing the Apollo 13 Mission emblem was flown to the moon on the ill-fated mission as part of Commander Jim Lovell's Personal Preference Kit. (This is a small bag that Astronauts were allowed to take along on the mission to house personal mementos.)The Flown Patch has been archivally framed along with another valuable Apollo 13 item, a Sterling Silver Franklin Mint Apollo 13 Medallion (un-flown). Measuring 38mm in Diameter the medallion is one of only 200 minted especially for Jim Lovell as commander of the mission. What is special about these medallions is that they still bear the names of the original crew with Tom Mattingly as opposed to Jack Swigert. The Apollo 13 Robbins Medallions on the other hand were re-stuck with the new crew names.
The frame has a clear back, so the rear of the medallion is also visible. In 2011 one of these Sterling Silver Medallions sold for $2,390
Frame measures 15 x 18 Inches
