This incredible artifact from the personal collection of Jim Lovell flew onboard the ill-fated Apollo 13 mission in April 1970.
The Apollo 13 Orbital Science Chart D (SKB 32100082-374) was intended for use by Command Module Pilot, Jack Swigert and shows Photographic Targets including possible future Apollo landing sites, areas for Visual Observations, Control Points, and Lunar Landmarks.
Along the center of the chart are colored lines which represent the orbital path of the Apollo 13 CSM on specific revolutions, 2, 3, 12, 15 16, 17, and 18.
There are two Legends on the chart which explain some of the symbols used including: Camera Lens choise LTC, 250mm or 80mm, time between camera frames, Subsolar and Subearth points, Apollo landing sites, and the scale of the map 1:2,500,00.
Several Apollo landing sites are visible on the chart including the Ocean Of Storms, Fra Mauro, Sea of Tranquility, and Taurantius.
There is a photographic exposure chart which gives Shutter Speed and Aperture settings according to which orbit and time from the 180 degree meridian
The chart has been folded to a fan type booklet with 24 sides, so that when the last page is reached, the first reappears once more, thus allowing the Astronaut to use the chart continuously over several orbits.
Each side measures 12 inches wide x 7.5 inches high. So over 24 sides the total height (if cut and unfolded would measure an incredible 15 feet! Making this item one of the largest single flown items that it is possible to obtain.
The chart came originally from the personal collection of Apollo 13 Commander, Jim Lovell, who has signed and inscribed the chart with, "Jim Lovell - On Board Apollo 13 CMD Module".
Comes with both Jim Lovell and Moonpans COA.
Front side signed by Jim Lovell with "On Board Apollo 13 CMD Module" added
Side showing Sea Of Tranquility
